Look Inside

"Few aspects of the Church's teaching are as misunderstood or as misrepresented as that involving marriage and divorce. In The Dilemma of Divorced Catholics, Father John Catoir spells out clearly, concisely and faithfully what the Church really has to say on the subject. This updated edition of a Catholic classic couldn't have come along at a better time!" Gerald M. Costello, former editor, Catholic New York

Care of your St. Joseph Edition of the Holy Bible

A little bit of care will help preserve your St. Joseph Edition of the Holy Bible for years to come. Wiping with a soft, clean cloth will take care of most dirt. A leather edition will be best preserved if occasionally treated with a good leather conditioner.

The book was very good. I learned a lot. I am a divorced catholic. There was no practical help for me from the catholic church when my husband filed for divorce from me. I had to answer the summons for divorce. I had to look thru the telephone book to find a lawyer. I had to call a lot of lawyers. They all wanted a retainer. I did not have the money to pay a lawyer. The only lawyer to take my case asked for my father's name and extorted $7,000 from my father without telling me. My husband committed family offense and was ordered away from the home. I was injured due to domestic violence and alone. My children were moving out and I was left holding the bag. Absolutely no catholic helped me despite my attendance at St. Mary's roman catholic church in Batavia New York. I was abandoned by those who should care. St. Marys closed and the building is being sold. I am able to go to St. Joseph now and joined Sodality. I cannot trust the catholic church to protect me here. I would like to continue being a catholic but need practical support as a divorced catholic. I want to read more books about church teaching when I am able. I live on social security and a small pension and am 79 years old. I was married at SS Peter and Paul church in Hamburg and did not expect to be abused as I was. I am on defense now. My husband lost his religion during our marriage. We had our three children and I wanted a career.
