If I give away everything to feed the poor . . . , but do not have love, I achieve nothing. —1 Cor 13:3
St. Paul takes Jesus’ own commands, like “Feed the poor,” and “Have faith that will move mountains,” and shows that these commands cannot be successfully followed unless we are first moved by love. Just as Jesus performed miracles because He loved, so must we love in order to do His work.
“Jesus, today I will put aside some food or money for the hungry, and with it, I will pray to love them even as I help feed them.”
